Homeowner Maintenance

Sills, roller tracks and weep holes must be cleared of construction debris before using operable vents and periodically cleared thereafter. Failure to maintain the tracks and rollers may result in damage and/or diminished product performance. The rollers must be lubricated with dry silicone lubricant or candle wax. The sill tracks of all aluminum products must be inspected annually and resealed as needed to maintain a water tight integrity.

All aluminum, vinyl, and glass surfaces must be protected from plaster, mortar, concrete, paint and other construction debris. Any material must be removed with a solution of warm, soapy water. PETROLIUM BASED SOLVENTS OR CAUSTIC CLEANERS SUCH AS VINEGAR, AMMONIA, OR BLEACH MUST NOT BE USED TO CLEAN THE ALUMINUM, VINYL OR GLASS SURFACES. The use of razor blades, sharp tools or any other material which could scratch or damage the glass must be avoided.

Tinted film should not be used on any dual-glazed unit. The use of tint will cause excessive heat, damage the seal of the dual-glazed units and void the manufacturer's warranty.
